Law of Attraction Carnival 2: Desire

The Law of Attraction is very clear about Desire: Desire is good. Wanting is good. Desire fuels our expansion and through our expansion the Universe expands. The Law of Attraction provides a wonderful balance and foil to the sometimes strict, ascetic principles of many spiritual teachings.

This is not to say that the Law of Attraction is not effective as a spiritual path. It absolutely is. But it does not present itself in those terms. In many spiritual circles, desire has gotten a bad rap. And the Law of Attraction, through encouraging an awakening of desire, is helping to release some of the pressure that has built up around desire.

What we resist persists. And for many who have focused on spiritual growth, a resistance to desire, either conscious or unconscious, has blocked the way to heightened awareness.

In many ways, I think of the Law of Attraction as the Bill Murray character in the movie Stripes, saying, “Lighten up Francis.” We are being given a green light to lighten up, to not take ourselves so seriously. We are being given permission – not that we ever needed permission – to dream, to imagine, to envision. We are being given “free reign” to think big and have big desires.

And this, my friends, is a wonderful gift.

So lets see what some other folks had to say on this topic of Desire:

Let’s start off with Patricia, who is back again with an extended entry on transforming despair into happiness. In How to Be Happy: Attend to Your Four Core Components and Find True Happiness, she reminds us of perhaps the single most important point: “It is not selfish to desire to be happy.

Over at Only One Mike, Michael insightfully points out that Success is a Decision, Not a Destination, He also points out in quite poetic terms, “goals are dreams with deadlines.” I love that!

David Trager presents Getting up to speed with who you really are. In this entry David explores the way that our desires immediately create a matching vibration in our higher self. When we have a desire to experience life from that higher perspective, we automatically move into a deeper connection with our higher self.

In his entry, Effortless Success, Raymond David Salas reminds us that “our lives, world, and reality is actually created by the desires, thoughts, intentions, and images we give our attention to. Action is simply a way for us to enjoy what we’ve created.”

Alexander Becker presents Subjective Reality: How Desire Always Overrides Methods. Alexander uses desire as a starting point for exploring the question: Do smart people need placebos? He suggests that when “the desire is strong enough… the specific methods of accomplishing become irrelevant.”

Brandon Peele provides us with a short review of the book, Jonathon Livingston Seagull. This book is a classic exploration of key Law of Attraction concepts, especially desire! Please note that if you haven’t read the book, Brandon does give away the ending! 😉

I love the point that Kevin Chu makes in Statistics – Its irrelevance in most of life’s decisions, for “If it is to be it is up to me.” We are not numbers. We can’t be divided up and split out into parts and percentages. If you desire something, go get it.

And if you’re interested in a fun and creative way to awaken and refine your desires, we’ll end this edition with a wonderful post from  Phylameana lila Desy, the host of the excellent carnival of healing, who takes us step-by-step through the process Creating Your Own Manifesting Scrapbook.

And that concludes this edition.

The next Law of Attraction Carnival will be out on Tuesday, September 26th. The topic of that edition will be JOY!
