Why Bad Press For The Secret Is Good News For Us

The movie The Secret is definitely the “buzz” lately. For a look at some of the buzz, just read the latest Law of Attraction Carnival all about The Secret. As I noted in this entry on the backlash the Secret is receiving from much of the mainstream press, recent coverage of the movie has been mostly negative and disparaging.

But here’s the thing. It doesn’t matter what kind of press the Secret and the Law of Attraction receive. Remember, the Law of Attraction says that what you focus on expands.

When the NY Times runs a negative article about the Secret what are they focusing on?

When CBS sets up a debate about the Secret between James Ray and John Norcross what are they focusing on?

When CNN runs a snarky story on the Secret what are they focusing on?

Every time the Secret and/or the Law of Attraction appear in the mainstream press, regardless of how positive or negative the coverage is, it is truly a blessing because it brings this information into the awareness of more people.

And here’s the thing. It doesn’t matter if the coverage is negative because the people who are ready to receive this information will get it.

When you watch the Secret you either resonate with it or you don’t. It happens below the level of intellect. It happens on a feeling and vibrational level.

Those who don’t yet “get” the Law of Attraction are not ready for it yet. And that’s fine. The last thing we want to do is get into a shouting match about who’s right and who’s wrong.

It doesn’t matter what anyone else does. It doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks. If you believe in the Secret and the Law of Attraction, put it to use in your life. Don’t get caught in the energy draining cycle of trying to convince others that this material is “True.”

It someone doesn’t resonate with what they hear in the Secret then it’s NOT true for them. And that’s fine!

But if it is true for you – if you watch the Secret and feel something open up inside you, or you feel like you’re finally coming home after a long hard journey – then put these tools and this information to work in your life.

Do it now! Don’t wait for those around you to “get it.” They’ll start to get it when they see your life changing.

And when you see or hear someone getting down on The Secret or calling it a bunch of woo-woo bunk, offer them your gratitude for focusing more attention on this truly life-transforming material!

Wise words! I have seen several of the shouting matches online as the believers vent their frustration about the fact that not everyone is getting it.

As you said, people will come around when they are ready – or they won’t. In either case, one of the beauties of blogging is that all of this information stays available.

It will be here when the others “get it”. 🙂

        Hey Ed, great writeup.

And as I keep saying, controversy in the press is simply great publicity.

Getting the message out there… People will make up their minds and they’ll be exposed to an idea that they might well not have ever come across otherwise.

        Have an awesome day!

Aaron. Yeah, the last thing I want to see is for the Secret/LoA crowd to turn fundamentalist. After all the LoA is all about acceptance. If we can’t practice the art of accepting what is, how can we hope to see it in others?

Dan. Didn’t someone famous say something like “there is no bad publicity?” The more the merrier!

I can see it now… the Church of the Fundamentalist Spiritualists.

Love and acceptance for all who haven’t sinned. Wait, wait, haven’t we played that game before? 🙂

        Have an awesome day!

I like it Dan. Has a nice ring to it… a nice resonance or vibration, you might say.

I LOVE this. This is the all time best response to all of the negative stuff being published! Thank you! I haven’t read much of the bad stuff… but enough of it to know that the only reason they write it is because they don’t “get” it.

I SO appreciate your viewpoint! I’ve bookmarked you and will definitely be back!

        Thank you Ed!

You hit the nail on the head. It is what we focus on that expands!

So turn off the news, and the mindless TV, and surround yourself with books, movies and resources that inspire you and keep you in alignment with your goals.

To help you out, I have just launched a new site to do just this. It is called keepingthesecret.com and it is a growing collection of resources to help you apply the teachings of “The Secret” to your daily life. I hope you find it useful.

Christy. It’s so true. The reaction to the concept of “feeling good,” shows just how ingrained our resistance is to feeling good. Most of us believe we’re here to struggle. Listen to the recording of the LoA Live radio show from 3/19 for a more in-depth exploration of this topic!

      Got something to say?
