I’ve Been Blog Tipped

Maria over at The Good Life just blog tipped Evolving Times. I must admit that until today I had been unaware of this blogging tradition. Apparently Easton Ellsworth at Business Blog Wire started the tradition one year ago today!

And while I’ve never participated in the somewhat questionable sport of cow-tipping, the general idea behind blog tipping is that you sneak up on some unsuspecting blogger and give them a suprise tip – in this case a link – as well as a few good compliments.

I love it!

Of course the only problem is picking the three bloggers that you want to tip. So I think I’ll follow Maria’s lead and pick three blogs at random from my RSS reader. If they’re in my reader, they’re most definitely worth a good tipping!

The first blog to be tipped is Lighter Footsteps.

As someone who is very interested in living a sustainable life, I am always on the lookout for resources that can help me minimize my ecological footprint. Lighter Footsteps most definitely does that! Their great information on CFLs (Compact Flourescent Lighting) has helped me move through some of my misperceptions of the technology and move towards a home that is illuminated almost completely by CFLs. And their recent article on How to Take a Green Vacation is filled with wonderful tips and suggestions that can not only make a vacation greener, but seem to have the potential to make them even more fun!

The next random tipping victim…err… blog from my reader is Pronet Advertising.

These guys know their stuff. And what exactly is their stuff? Social networking, online marketing, SEO, and much more! If you’re looking for powerful marketing insights to help build traffic to your blog, Pronet is definitely worth adding to your reader. Their article on Why the Digg Button Gets You Buried Not Dugg provides a great look at the potential negative effects of having a digg this button with low numbers on every blog entry.

And finally, and I must say I am tremendously happy that my closed-eyes mouse click landed on this one, it’s over to Gleb Reys’ Personal Development Ideas blog.

And it could not have been more perfect timing: His latest entry is a review of one of my absolute favorite books of all time, The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. This was the book that I read to my daughter when she was in the NICU for the first 5-days of her life. If you haven’t read it, go get it right now. And if you have not yet seen Gleb’s personal development site, I highly recommend you head over there. In addition to his wonderful blog posts, he has launched a personal development forum which is a lively place for discussing your favorite personal development topics.

That’s it for this edition of Blog Tipping. I hope you enjoyed it. I certainly did. And I must say I like this tradition. Thanks for starting it Easton!

        Hi Chris

You’re very welcome. I will let you know how it goes with the CFLs. So far so good!

      Got something to say?
