Let Your Inner Child Guide You to Passion

How long does it take you to shift from your adult, serious, side to your playful, inner child mode?More and more I’m discovering that one of the most powerful tools for personal growth and success is my ability to embrace and engage my playful, inner child space quickly and consistently.

marshmallow-narrow

I don’t know about you, but I can be awfully serious a lot of the time. And even when I consciously give myself permission to let go of that seriousness, it can take a bit of coaxing to relax down into the playful, spontaneous, childlike space that is so natural and yet can be so difficult to hold.

But it’s that space, that vibration of spontaneous creativity that allows us to tap into the infinite possibilities of the Universe. It is that energy of playfulness and joy that fuels the inspired actions that allow us to attract our deepest desires.

But most of us are almost completely disconnected from that creative energy.

And, while I’m a pretty fun guy (no not a mushroom!) and love to play, this weekend I got to experience just  how long it takes me to REALLY drop down fully into that playful, creative, childlike vibration.

My daughter and I went camping this weekend with a few other families from her kindergarten class. We spent the weekend playing in the dunes north of Bodega Bay and I can trace the “downshifts” that moved me out of my serious, adult mind and into the playful, spontaneous, childlike vibration.

When we first arrived I was, of course, all business: Where are we camping? Where’s the best tent site? Set up the tent. Unpack the car… etc. It’s pretty amazing how my Virgo nature comes out, big time, when I first roll into a campground!

Fortunately, some other families were heading down to the beach just as we arrived and Ella tagged along with them while I got our campsite set up.
My first downshift came when I walked to the beach after setting up our site. All the way down to the beach I was in “Go” mode, walking fast and feeling like I was “supposed” to get down there to play with Ella. But the moment I walked across the boardwalk bridge and stood at the top of the dune looking down on the ocean and the beach and felt the wind coming off the water, I felt the first downshift. It’s quite difficult to stay in “go” mode when you’re at the beach. There is something hypnotic and mesmerizing about the ocean, and only the most die-hard do-ers can resist the ocean’s invitation to drop into a more relaxed vibration.

And the best part is that this invitation is available all the time: You don’t have to actually be at the ocean to access it.

Take a moment, right now, to imagine the sound of the waves, the smell of the salty air, the feel of the moisture on your face as the ocean wind swirls it around you. Take a deep breath and let yourself accept the invitation to downshift your vibration and come into resonance with the energy of the ocean.

Imagination is such a powerful tool for manifesting the life of your dreams. And you can improve your imagination just by using it! Take time to imagine that you are at the ocean, or the mountains, or the forest or wherever you feel most energized and connected!

My next downshift came after dinner. The kids were playing a game where the beautiful, exposed roots of an old pine tree growing out of the dunes was the “jail” and the roots of a smaller tree across the dunes was the “base” where you could “escape” to.

At first, just the children were playing while the adults sat, in the “jail” and talked about adult things. But, one by one, the fathers started joining in. You could see them get a little twinkle in their eyes… thinking about it, catching some of that contagious, playful, childlike energy. And then, suddenly, as they let go of their concerns about what they might look like or whether it was “ok” to play with the kids, they would burst out of the “jail” with a shout of joy as a pack of kids started chasing them around the dunes.

beach-fun-1Soon almost all of the “dada’s” were running around the dunes, acting like children, letting our playful, inner beings come out. And, quite honestly, I think the dads were having more fun than the kids! It happens that way. Kids play all the time. It’s their natural state. Dads… not so much! So when we do get out of our serious, responsible, mode the fun that’s been stuck inside starts coming out… big time!

Now, in addition to being a second downshift for me, when I jumped in and started running around the sand like a crazy, escapee, that game in the dunes really shifted the energy for our entire group. You could feel the group energy relax into playfulness. It was like a big sigh of relief as we let go of our collective responsibilities and allowed  ourselves to drop into the playful spontaneity of the present moment.

And that, of course, that led us all back over to the campfire for S’mores. And, it’s pretty hard to be serious while you’re making s’mores! Well, unless you get into a serious discussion of the BEST way to make them… You know, do you let the marshmallow catch on fire and then blow it out, or do you hold it just above the burn zone so that it  gets lightly browned? Do you melt the chocolate or let the toasted marshmallow do the melting? And this time we had a new twist added to the mix: Someone brought a jar of Nutella which… while not traditional, certainly did make a very good s’more when spread on the graham cracker in place of the chocolate bar!

The final downshift came after s’mores when we broke out our instruments and started playing music around the campfire. It brought me back to my days at summer camp on Cape Cod. There is something so universally appealing about playing music around a campfire. The crackling fire, the sparks, or “fire fairies” as Ella calls them, the soft glowing light on the faces, and the music filling the camp, rising up to the sky like an offering of joy and love.

And, as with the ocean, this energy is available to you all the time. You don’t have to wait until you’re at a campfire. Take a deep breath in and imagine the fire. Imagine the flames dancing and crackling. See the “fire fairies” as they rise up and dance in the smoke. Smell the smoke. And yes, even feel the smoke burning your eyes a little. And connect with the energy of the fire. That fire energy lives inside of you.

Connect with it. Feel it. Embrace it. Let it come out to play. Let it fuel your actions. That fire is the inspiration that empowers your actions. When you take actions that are fueled by your fire you accelerate the manifestation process.

Action without inspiration is like a lighter without fluid: You might get a few sparks, but no matter how often or how vigorously you click that button, you’re not going to get a flame.

KEY TAKEAWAY:

There is so much power in connecting with our childlike nature (not childish, childlike!). Yet we often allow our thoughts of how we “should” to act and who we are “supposed to” be get in the way and hold us back from connecting with that vibration.

Taking time, each day to consciously, actively, let that “inner child” come out to play can provide tremendous fuel and inspiration as you manifest your deepest desires!

TAKE ACTION:

This week, let your inner child come out to play. Do something that is absolutely NOT on the agenda of your adult, serious, responsible self. Indulge the playful, spontaneous, fiery, mischievous little one inside of you.

PS. One way to embrace that playful, spontaneous, fiery, mischievous little one inside of you is by amping up your passion. And the two people who can help you do that better than anyone else I can think of are Janet and Chris Attwood. Sometimes it’s GOOD When the Law of Attraction Doesn’t Work

It was all set. Chris Cade, the Abundant Mystic faculty member, and I were going to meet at Café Gratitude in Berkeley for lunch. Chris was in town, from Oregon, to visit his family and we were going to connect in person for the first time.

If you’re like me you know how fun and exciting it is to meet a “virtual” friend for the first time in “real life!” So I was looking forward to this connection.

But Friday afternoon, I had another car-related complication (what is it with me and cars?) that meant I had to cancel our meeting.

I was disappointed and frustrated. I felt like I was letting Chris down, and, for a moment, I caught myself feeling let down by the Universe. Have you ever felt that existential frustration when things don’t work out the way you “want” them to?

It can be very easy to go into blame in those moments: To seek out a reason why things aren’t working out. It’s at those times when we may wonder “Why isn’t the Law of Attraction working?

But it’s also at those moments that we have the opportunity to drop even deeper into trust and faith, to let go of our need to direct the outcome and learn to really “go with the flow.”

After a short moment or two, I came to my senses and remembered the truth that everything works out in its own perfect timing and manner. For whatever reason, this was not the time for me to meet Chris. I didn’t know why. And, in that moment I was perfectly fine accepting that I might not ever know why.

Sometimes you just have to let go of knowing.

And other times the reason becomes very clear!

The following Monday morning I dealt with my car issue and was back home by around 12:30 looking forward to my “free” afternoon. Ella was in aftercare for an extra day so that I could meet with Chris. So I had an open afternoon and was planning to get some work done and then go for a short hike before picking up Ella.

But at 12:45, literally 5-minutes after I sat down at my desk, I received a call from Ella’s school. She had fallen and hurt herself badly enough that I needed to go pick her up. So I turned right back around and went over to get her. FYI: She’s fine, just a bad bump.

Now you probably already see where this is going. But it took me until Wednesday morning to make the connection.

What if I had been down in Berkeley to meet with Chris?

Ella’s mom was not available to pick her up. And I would have been over an hour away. Now, fortunately, it was not a major “owie” and Ella would have been fine. But even so, I’m very thankful that I was able to get over to the school within 5-minutes of getting that phone call.

And once I made the connection between those two events, it was a powerful reminder of how the Universe often orchestrates events for our benefit – even though it may not always feel like it in the moment!

We can’t always see or know the “why” of things. We can’t always understand why something that we really want is not coming to us in the timeframe we would like.

Stuck in traffic? Maybe the Universe is keeping you from some greater misfortune up ahead.

Not as much money flowing into your life as you’d like? Perhaps you’re being given the opportunity to do some inner work to open the flow to even more!

Does the Law of Attraction always “work?” Do we always get what we “want?”

I don’t have an answer to that. And unlike some Law of Attraction teachers, I don’t believe that the Law of Attraction “works” 100% of the time. Unless you consider that it “works” at levels that are both way above and way below our conscious awareness.

For instance, is it possible that my higher consciousness “knew” that Ella was going to need me to pick her up on Monday? And if so, did I co-create the situation with my car so that I would be available to pick her up?

It’s certainly possible. After all, we are all energy and we are all interconnected. An awareness of everything that is happening, has happened and is going to happen is available to us in every moment.

So the next time you don’t get something you want, when you want it, take a step back and explore how you are benefiting from not getting it. Because there is always a benefit and a blessing in every situation! There truly is a sliver lining to every cloud. Your job is to find it!

I’ll Meet You There

Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing
there is a field. I will meet you there.

When the soul lies down in that grass,
the world is too full to talk about.
Ideas, language, even the phrase each other
doesn’t make any sense.

How Big Is Your Dream?

A Vision without a task is just a dream.

A task without a vision is just a job.

A vision with a task can change the world.

Today we celebrate the life of a great man, a man whose dream changed the lives of millions of people and, indeed, the course of our entire world.

Martin Luther King’s message of freedom, peace and equality for all people is as pertinent today as it was 45 years ago.

But what I find even more important than his message is his ability to firmly hold onto his dream of equality even in the midst of oppressive segregation, prejudice and violence.

When exploring the Law of Attraction, we often talk about “contrast:” For instance, how do you hold onto a feeling of abundance when, in “reality” you are saddled with debt and wondering how you’re going to pay your rent?

Well, Martin Luther King is a brilliant example for us to emulate. He held onto his dream while living in the contrast. Even as he looked around with his eyes and saw a reality of violence and segregation and hatred and prejudice, deep in his heart, he knew that one day, his dream would become a reality. He knew that we would overcome, someday.

And Martin Luther King Jr. gave that dream to us. He gave us what Neale Donald Walsch calls the Grandest Version of the Greatest Vision he had ever seen.

And while he spoke some of the most eloquent words ever spoke, it was not his words that conveyed the dream: It was the feeling. He knew that this dream could be made real. He felt it. He believed it down to the very core of his being.

If you have not seen his “I have a dream” speech, click the play button below and watch it now. It is one of the most powerful and inspiring speeches ever. It will be well worth the 17-minutes you spend watching it.

But even as you’re listening to the words, go beneath them. See if you can sense the energy, the passion, the conviction with which he holds his dream. Because, remember, everything is energy, and we attract our dreams through a vibrational process.

Listen, especially near the end of his speech, how his voice takes on a vibrato that seems to sing the truth of his dream. He is there, living his dream, even as he stands in a reality that is, seemingly, a long way away from the dream.

So on this day, when we celebrate the life of one of our world’s biggest dreamers, I ask you, “What is your dream?”

What is the Grandest Version of the Greatest Vision you’ve ever had for your life?

Now do not fall into the trap of comparing your dream to Martin Luther King’s. Not all of us are meant to carry such dreams, and the weight of responsibility that comes with them.

But neither is anyone meant to give up their dreams. And that is what far too many people have done. They have given up their dreams because others have told them, throughout their lives, that they can’t have what they want. They have been told to “play it safe.” They have been shot down when they tried to soar. And they have learned that there is no sense in dreaming.

But on this day, when we remember and honor the grand dream of a brilliant dreamer, take some time to remember your big dreams.

On this day, when we pay tribute to Martin Luther King, one of the most skillful Deliberate Creators in recent history, remember that you are the creator of your life. You are dreaming your life into existence right now.

Vincent Van Gogh said,

“I dream of painting then I paint my dream.”

Martin Luther King dreamed of freedom for all people and then he began painting that dream.

What are you going to dream? What does your dream look like? What does it feel like?

Only when you know your dream, can you then begin painting it.

So start dreaming! Dream big. Dream bold.

And then begin living into that dream. Because dreams do come true. But for that to happen, you must take the first step. You must begin painting your dream, living your dream.

Only you can make your dream come true!

So begin today.

And, in case you have not heard, President elect Obama made a call to service on this day. If you want to answer that call, if you want to have a task to go with your vision of a better life and better world, here are two websites with information:

Obama, Hope And A New Beginning

We made history last night. No matter what side of the aisle you sit on, no matter who you voted for, whether you live here in America or watched the results from elsewhere, you know that change is in the air.

Something is different today.

This morning we woke up to hope.

This morning we woke up to a real sense of possibility and potential.

This morning we woke up knowing that real change is possible.

And this morning we know that each of us has the power to create that change.

Our votes and our voices were heard and counted. And our long desire for positive change has now begun to manifest.

Last night we, as a collective voice, voted for hope. We said yes to the positive change that is possible.
But our work, as Deliberate Creators, is just beginning!

In this election we have shown the world and proven to ourselves that we can remain focused on our desires.
In the previous elections our collective attention was fixated on what we did NOT want. In this election we had a true leader who inspired us to stay focused on what we DO want.

Now, our work is to continue to focus on our desires. Continue to focus on the possibilities and the positive change we want to see in our own lives and in the world.

Last night we took a huge step in the direction of positive change. And we must not fritter away the momentum that step has generated.

We now have a leader, a true leader, to inspire us. But he is just one person. He helped to rally us and focus our attention. But each and every one of us played a part in this historic event. And each and every one of us must continue to play a part.

Take a moment to feel the hope. And even if you did not vote for Obama, I encourage you to drop your guard for a moment and feel into that hope. It is there, for all of us. And its here, not because of Obama.

The hope is here because of you, and me, and each and every person who said “yes” to the dream of a more positive future.

Over 45 years ago, Martin Luther King Jr. spoke of a dream. He had the dream “That one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: ‘We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.'”

Last night we took a big step towards making that dream come true.

But it is not the color of Obamas skin that is most important or most remarkable. No, as Deliberate Creators, what is most important is the hope he has inspired in this country.

Feel that hope. Breathe it in. What does it feel like to look forward to the future, to have positive expectations of where we can go, what we can achieve, who we can become?

For too long we have been mired in the despair of hopelessness, seeing no light at the end of the tunnel. For too long we have been focused on all that was “wrong.”

Now there is a bright light calling to us.

But remember, no matter what happens, that light is not out there, in the world. No, that light is within you.
You are the light. You are the hope.

Last night you became the change you wished to see in the world!

Continue to be that light. Shine that light on the world. And watch, with amazement as your world, your life, reflects the change you are becoming.

So here is to hope. Here is to joy and light and positive expectation.
And here, most of all, is to the awakening and unfolding of YOUR greatness!

Roller-CoasterYou know those butterflies you get in your stomach when you go over a hill while you’re driving, or swinging really high at the playground, or zooming down the big hill on a roller coaster? My daughter and I call them “Whoop-dee-doops.” As we’re driving, she’ll say, “Dada, I got a whoop-dee-doop.” And I’ll say “Me too. That was a good one!” “Uh huh!” She replies. Well, I don’t know about you, but this economic roller coaster ride we’re on is giving me lots of whoop-dee-doops! And, while I’ll admit that they don’t all feel great, I’m mostly enjoying the ride and having a really fun time with so many opportunities for growth and expansion. You see, it really is like a roller coaster ride. When you wait in line, give the attendant your ticket and climb into that car, you know you’re not going to climb out right when it gets to the top of that first big uphill. Nope, you’re going to get that thrill and that whoop-dee-doop on the way down. We’re in a similar situation right now in our lives. We’ve waited in line, gotten into the car, made it to the top of that first big hill and now we’re on the way down. Too late to jump out! So we might as well enjoy the ride. I mean, we’re on it anyway! And that’s just what I’m doing! And this Thursday, I’d love to share a few of the Energetic tools that I’m using to stay out of the fear that is swirling all around us and open up to the thrill and excitement of the ride. From 5:30pm – 6:30pm (Pacific Time) this Thursday, I’m offering a free teleclass where you will learn some simple energetic techniques to help you thrive in this environment of fear and chaos. I’ll show you how to enjoy the whoop-dee-doops. In addition to learning why this time in our history is such an amazing opportunity for Deliberate Creators to thrive, you’ll learn 3 very specific energetic techniques to help you take advantage of this opportunity:

  • A very simple breathing technique to help you release fear and connect with joy.
  • An easy 5-minute energy cleansing tool you can use morning and evening to keep your personal energy space clear.
  • A grounding technique you can use anywhere, anytime to calm and soothe any frenetic, fear-based, energy in your space.

If you are looking for some support and guidance on how to effectively navigate these turbulent times, you’ll want to be on this call. Space is limited on this call, so to guarantee your spot, use the link below to register. I look forward to speaking with you on Thursday and enjoying a whoop-dee-doop or two! To your greatness. Ed

Your Mama Don’t Dance and Your Daddy Don’t Rock N’ Roll

I’ll admit I’m a fan of fun old 80’s music. Hey, it’s my era! And leave it to Loggins and Messina to encapsulate the cause of all of the problems of an entire generation!

Think about it, if the parents of my generation had just lightened up a bit, danced more, and listened to some of that long-haired, hippy rock n’ roll music, we’d all be much better off right now. Right?

Not!

All right, I’ll admit that I sometimes toy with the possibility of blaming the state of my life on my parent’s inability to cut loose and enjoy themselves. There’s no question about it: learning that life is to be enjoyed is not all that easy when you’re surrounded by folks who just don’t know how to have any fun let alone dance or rock n’ roll.

However, as a Deliberate Creator, living at the leading edge of thought, I don’t have that luxury. And if you want to firmly place yourself out here on the leading edge of thought, neither do you.

Here’s the thing; It doesn’t matter how “TRUE” it is. Deliberate Creation is not about what is true, what appears to be true, or what has been true in the past.

Deliberate Creation is all about what you choose to be true in the present and the future. What truth do you want to create? That is the only question that really matters.

You can continue to blame your life on your parents’ inability to dance and rock n’ roll. If you do, you’ll continue to live the life story you’re in now. And if that works for you, great. Go for it!

But if you want to change your life story, you have to write it. And that means you have to let go of blame regardless of how “true”  it might be.

So if you’re mama didn’t dance and you’re daddy didn’t rock n’ roll stop wasting your time and energy on what they missed out on and get out there and start doing some dancing and rockin’ and rollin’!

Michael Phelps Did It Now It’s Your Turn

Well, he did it. 8 gold medals in 8 races for Michael Phelps. A truly amazing accomplishment.

And the beautiful thing is that all of us benefit from his performance. Every time Michael stood up on that gold medal platform, he reminded us that anything is possible.

But the interesting thing is that a lot of people will talk about Michael’s accomplishment and miss the true value of it. They’ll say how great Michael is and how amazing his performance was.

And then thoughts such as: “Yeah, but he’s special,” or, “I could never do that,” or “Some people are just born talented,” will prevent them from receiving the massive potential benefits of Michael’s work. They’ll miss out on the core message of the Olympic Games and the opportunity to apply it to their own life.

What’s that message?

That anything is truly possible.

s Michael Phelps special? Absolutely.

But guess what… So are you!

If these Olympic Games have awakened you to your greatness they have served their purpose. If the accomplishments of these amazing athletes – and they ALL are amazing athletes! – have inspired you to “go for it,” whatever that “it” might be, then these games have been successful.

Contrary to what NBC might have you believe, the purpose of these games is not to have you sitting around spending more time on your butt in front of the TV!

The purpose is to get you inspired to go out and reach for YOUR dreams!

The worst thing that can come out of these games is this: “Well I’ll never compete at the Olympics so why should I even bother trying?”

How many of you have heard or thought something like that before?

For most of us, the point of our lives is not about competing at the Olympics. Our purpose is not to break Michael‘s record.

The point of your life is to do something that moves you in the direction of a dream. Whatever YOUR dream might be.

If your dream is to swim competitively, go out and join a Masters Swim program. If your dream is to perform in musical theater, go out and audition for a local community theater performance. If your dream is to write a novel, start writing!

Michael Phelps didn’t achieve his dream by just dreaming about it! And he certainly didn’t get to the Olympics by sitting on his butt all day!

He went out and did something.

Now it’s your turn!

What is your dream?

And what are you going to do about it?

Remember the words of Henry David Thoreau:

“Go confidently in the direction of your dreams! Live the life you’ve imagined.”

It’s time to put away the tired excuses: “I’m too old.” “I’m too young.” “I don’t have time.” “I don’t know how.” “I can’t!”

Put those lame excuses away. Excuses don’t get you to your dreams!

Look, you may never stand on the gold medal platform at the Olympic Games. But that’s not the point!

You’ve got a personal gold medal platform waiting for you. And only you can decide what the requirements are to stand on that platform!

Rediscover your dream and then go out and move confidently in the direction of that dream.

You’ll know when you’ve gotten that gold medal. You’ll feel it. And while there may not be millions of people watching you get that gold medal placed on around your neck, YOU”LL know that you did it!

And that knowledge will move you even more confidently towards your next dream!

So let’s congratulate Michael Phelps! And let’s thank him, and all the Olympians, for inspiring us to go for OUR gold!

And if you’re interested in jump-starting your journey towards that gold – your gold – the Olympic Games special for the Awakening to Greatness retreat at Lake Tahoe, October 10th – 12th ends with the Olympic closing ceremony on August 24th. The Deliberate Creator’s Declaration of Independence

Declaration of Independence

When, in the course of human events, it becomes necessary to dissolve the Mental, Emotional, Physical and Energetic bonds which have connected one person to another, and to assume among the powers of the Earth, the separate and equal privileges to which the laws of the Universe entitle them, their own self-respect requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all Deliberate Creators are created equal. That they are endowed by their Creative Source with certain unalienable rights and that among these are life, liberty, abundance, joy and the pursuit of happiness.

To secure these rights, certain thoughts, beliefs and ideologies have been instituted among men and women, deriving their just powers from the consent of the people. And whenever any of these thoughts, beliefs or ideologies becomes destructive to these unalienable rights, it is the responsibility of Deliberate Creators to alter or abolish them, and to institute new ones, laying their foundation on such principles and organizing their powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to empower their natural states of abundance, joy and love.

Prudence, indeed, will dictate that beliefs long established should not be changed for light and transient causes. But experience has shown that individuals are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the beliefs to which they are accustomed. But when existing thoughts, beliefs and ideologies sabotage, subvert and ultimately destroy the will of Deliberate Creators, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such belief systems, and to create and embrace new beliefs that empower their strength, prosperity and evolution.

Such has been the patient sufferance of these Deliberate Creators; and such is now the necessity which constrains them to alter their former systems of thought, belief and ideology. The history of the existing Prevailing Belief System is a history of ongoing injury and usurpation, having in direct object the establishment of an absolute tyranny over these Deliberate Creators.

To prove this, let facts be submitted to a candid world.

  • This belief system would have us base our actions on fear.
  • This belief system holds that we lack personal power.
  • This belief system affirms that we are unable to manifest our desires.
  • This belief system defines the world as a dangerous place.
  • This belief system alleges that scarcity and lack is our natural state.
  • This belief system asserts that we are meant to struggle and suffer.
  • This belief system avows that vulnerability, intimacy and trust are weaknesses.
  • This belief system affirms that we are unworthy, undeserving and not good enough.

We, therefore, the representatives of the Deliberate Creators of the World, appealing to the Creative Source for the rectitude of our intentions, do, in the name, and by the authority of all Deliberate Creators, solemnly publish and declare, that we are, and of right ought to be free and independent from the Prevailing Belief System; that we are absolved from all allegiance to those beliefs and that all Mental, Emotional, Physical and Energetic connections between us and the Prevailing Belief System, are and ought to be totally dissolved; and that as free and independent Deliberate Creators, we have full power to attract our desires, seek ever greater joy, engage in inspired action, bask in the limitless abundance of this Universe, and do all other things which true Deliberate Creators may of right do. And for the support of this declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of the Creative Source, we mutually pledge to each other our support, our encouragement and our sacred honor.

If you would like to join us in declaring your independence from the prevailing belief system, add your name to the comments below. Every signature added to this document weakens the prevailing belief system and strengthens the new beliefs that empower our ability to create the lives we desire and the world we want!

Does Love Complete You or Awaken You to Your Own Completeness?

I’m learning to play John Mayer’s song, Fathers, and in the first line he sings:

I know a girl
She puts the color inside of my world.

I love that. But I also question it.

Can a girl really put the color inside of my world?

Can the love of a girl put the color inside my world?

I mean, shouldn’t we put the color into our own world? And really, isn’t the color there already? Maybe it’s just waiting to be seen… or to be shown.

It also got me thinking about the movie Jerry Maguire and that whole “You complete me” theme they had going.

Same questions:

Can someone complete me?

Can love complete me?

Aren’t I already complete? Maybe I just need to remember that completeness?

I’ve got some more thoughts on this, but I’d love to hear what you think. I’ve really enjoyed your comments and insights on my Ring of Fire “coincidence” and want to open some space for you to share your thoughts here as well.
