It was all set. Chris Cade, the Abundant Mystic faculty member, and I were going to meet at Café Gratitude in Berkeley for lunch. Chris was in town, from Oregon, to visit his family and we were going to connect in person for the first time.
If you’re like me you know how fun and exciting it is to meet a “virtual” friend for the first time in “real life!” So I was looking forward to this connection.
But Friday afternoon, I had another car-related complication (what is it with me and cars?) that meant I had to cancel our meeting.
I was disappointed and frustrated. I felt like I was letting Chris down, and, for a moment, I caught myself feeling let down by the Universe. Have you ever felt that existential frustration when things don’t work out the way you “want” them to?
It can be very easy to go into blame in those moments: To seek out a reason why things aren’t working out. It’s at those times when we may wonder “Why isn’t the Law of Attraction working?”
But it’s also at those moments that we have the opportunity to drop even deeper into trust and faith, to let go of our need to direct the outcome and learn to really “go with the flow.”
After a short moment or two, I came to my senses and remembered the truth that everything works out in its own perfect timing and manner. For whatever reason, this was not the time for me to meet Chris. I didn’t know why. And, in that moment I was perfectly fine accepting that I might not ever know why.
Sometimes you just have to let go of knowing.
And other times the reason becomes very clear!
The following Monday morning I dealt with my car issue and was back home by around 12:30 looking forward to my “free” afternoon. Ella was in aftercare for an extra day so that I could meet with Chris. So I had an open afternoon and was planning to get some work done and then go for a short hike before picking up Ella.
But at 12:45, literally 5-minutes after I sat down at my desk, I received a call from Ella’s school. She had fallen and hurt herself badly enough that I needed to go pick her up. So I turned right back around and went over to get her. FYI: She’s fine, just a bad bump.
Now you probably already see where this is going. But it took me until Wednesday morning to make the connection.
What if I had been down in Berkeley to meet with Chris?
Ella’s mom was not available to pick her up. And I would have been over an hour away. Now, fortunately, it was not a major “owie” and Ella would have been fine. But even so, I’m very thankful that I was able to get over to the school within 5-minutes of getting that phone call.
And once I made the connection between those two events, it was a powerful reminder of how the Universe often orchestrates events for our benefit – even though it may not always feel like it in the moment!
We can’t always see or know the “why” of things. We can’t always understand why something that we really want is not coming to us in the timeframe we would like.
Stuck in traffic? Maybe the Universe is keeping you from some greater misfortune up ahead.
Not as much money flowing into your life as you’d like? Perhaps you’re being given the opportunity to do some inner work to open the flow to even more!
Does the Law of Attraction always “work?” Do we always get what we “want?”
I don’t have an answer to that. And unlike some Law of Attraction teachers, I don’t believe that the Law of Attraction “works” 100% of the time. Unless you consider that it “works” at levels that are both way above and way below our conscious awareness.
For instance, is it possible that my higher consciousness “knew” that Ella was going to need me to pick her up on Monday? And if so, did I co-create the situation with my car so that I would be available to pick her up?
It’s certainly possible. After all, we are all energy and we are all interconnected. An awareness of everything that is happening, has happened and is going to happen is available to us in every moment.
So the next time you don’t get something you want, when you want it, take a step back and explore how you are benefiting from not getting it. Because there is always a benefit and a blessing in every situation! There truly is a sliver lining to every cloud. Your job is to find it!

Law of Attraction lessons I learned from the Blackberry Bramble a couple of years ago.
Here are those Law of Attraction lessons:
Desires need time to ripen just like blackberries.
It takes work to get what you want.
Sometimes you’ll get scratched reaching for your desires.
Desires have seasons.
It was a great reminder for me. Perfect timing! But then, isn’t that another lesson the Law of Attraction teaches?
Go read more about the Law of Attraction lessons I learned from the blackberry bramble and leave a comment to let me know what you think!
Joseph Lieberman, the chairman of the Homeland Security Committee, announced major security lapses at Federal buildings. And not only did he announce the lapses, he announced exactly what the lapses were. In essence, he told the bad guys how they could get explosive devices into those buildings.
Now, you might think that full disclosure is a good thing. I mean, now we know that our many of our medium security buildings are not all that secure. Good to know, right?
Well, personally, I think this was an extremely bad idea for two reasons. First, as mentioned, it gives potential bad guys the information they need to plan attacks. Let’s face it, the vast majority of potential terrorists are boneheads themselves. And they probably wouldn’t be smart enough to realize that they could easily get past the security in those buildings. Now they do!
Come on guys. Isn’t this sort of a “D’uh” thing? Sure, tell us that we need to tighten up the security, but don’t give out the details. That’s just plain dumb.
And the second reason this is a bad idea – and in my opinion, this is the bigger reason – is because this announcement adds to the fear that permeates our world. And the last thing we need right now is more fear.
Let’s focus on what we want more of: Peace, security, happiness, joy, love. Let’s focus on the freedom we still enjoy here in the US and elsewhere. Let’s focus on the fact that we can sit in a cafe on a beautiful, warm evening, watching people walking by, smiling and holding hands, and laughing and twirling around.
So to Joseph Lieberman, I say, “Shame on you.”
And to NPR, I say, “You know better than that.”
And to myself, I wonder, “How could I have made this point without spreading this news?”
Your thoughts? I’d love to hear them. Leave a comment below.
Have you ever eaten mushrooms? No, not THOSE mushrooms. The only mushrooms I ever tasted when I was growing up were those pretty boring little white button mushrooms. Not much flavor in those guys. And, it turns out, not much in the way of health benefits either.
But as it turns out, there are many mushrooms that do have serious health benefits. And as a side note, there is some serious research going on makes it look as if mushrooms may be able to help us clean up the mess we’ve made on our planet. I’ll share more about that later. But now I want to turn you on to an opportunity to find out how mushrooms can help boost your immune system: Big time!
I think it’s safe to say that most of us are interested in improving the health of our physical bodies. One of the Big 3 topics that comes up in relation to the Law of Attraction is physical health. (I’ll give you 2 guesses what the other 2 are!)
And while I firmly believe that there is absolutely, positively, without any doubt, a vibrational
component to our physical health, I also believe that how we treat our bodies is equally important.
Yes, our thoughts, emotions and energy systems can have a very powerful impact on our physical health. But so too does the food we put into our bodies.
And I always find it interesting when I see Deliberate Creators try to deny this. I must admit that I cringe when I see diehard Law of Attraction practitioners shoving junk food into their mouths as they say something like, “I’ll just shift the vibration to bring it into harmony with my body and make it healthy for me.”
Like it or not, it is still true that we are what we eat. (And personally, I’d rather be a almond than a cow!)
Now someday, at some point on our path to mastery, it may be possible to consistently shift the vibration of the food we eat – making it possible to live a healthy life on donuts and coffee! (I once read a story about a guru living in some forest in India who lived on coffee – well actually he lived on Prana but liked coffee so much that was all he ingested! Could make a good spokesman for Starbucks!)
But I think it’s fair to say that most of us are not quite ready for the coffee-only diet!
So over the last few months I’ve been immersing myself more fully into healthy food and exploring a mostly raw food diet. And whenever I immerse myself in something new I do a LOT Of research. And one name that continually comes up is David Wolfe.
When I have a question about raw, living foods, super-nutrition and, yes, raw chocolate – YUM – my research often leads me to David Wolfe for the answer!
If you don’t know his name, he is one of the most recognized super-nutrition authorities. His fans and clients include T. Harv Eker, Tony Robbins, Angela Bassett, Woody Harrelson, Mark Victor Hansen, and hundreds of thousands more.
I’ve learned a lot from him and now David Wolfe has a free video about mushrooms and longevity… No, not THOSE mushrooms! He’s talking about a group of medicinal mushrooms that have the ability to boost the human immune system.
And he seems to know what he’s talking about since he hasn’t been sick in over 15-years!
And I must admit, it’s fun to watch him talk. He’s got this hippie mad scientist vibe going on that’s pretty cool.
So go check it out and let me know what you think. Oh, and he also talks about the importance of energetic grounding which is awesome. I’ve been focused on helping people learn how to ground for years. Go get my free Energetics of Attraction Intro package for more on grounding.
And don’t miss David Wolfe’s video on mushrooms… No not THOSE mushrooms!
There’s some big stuff brewing in the world of Deliberate Creation. You may have already heard about the Masters Gathering. If not, you will be, because they are pulling together one of the biggest personal growth launches that I’ve seen.
Now, I can’t speak about the program yet, because I haven’t seen it. But I can tell you that they have lined up a truly impressive array of Master Law of Attraction teachers for this program.
Over the next few weeks they’ll be releasing several free videos from some of the Masters.
Here’s the intro from the video with John Assaraf.
You can get the etire John Assaraf Masters Gathering video here.
I’ll keep you posted as they release new videos in the coming days.
A Vision without a task is just a dream.
A task without a vision is just a job.
A vision with a task can change the world.
Today we celebrate the life of a great man, a man whose dream changed the lives of millions of people and, indeed, the course of our entire world.
Martin Luther King’s message of freedom, peace and equality for all people is as pertinent today as it was 45 years ago.
But what I find even more important than his message is his ability to firmly hold onto his dream of equality even in the midst of oppressive segregation, prejudice and violence.
When exploring the Law of Attraction, we often talk about “contrast:” For instance, how do you hold onto a feeling of abundance when, in “reality” you are saddled with debt and wondering how you’re going to pay your rent?
Well, Martin Luther King is a brilliant example for us to emulate. He held onto his dream while living in the contrast. Even as he looked around with his eyes and saw a reality of violence and segregation and hatred and prejudice, deep in his heart, he knew that one day, his dream would become a reality. He knew that we would overcome, someday.
And Martin Luther King Jr. gave that dream to us. He gave us what Neale Donald Walsch calls the Grandest Version of the Greatest Vision he had ever seen.
And while he spoke some of the most eloquent words ever spoke, it was not his words that conveyed the dream: It was the feeling. He knew that this dream could be made real. He felt it. He believed it down to the very core of his being.
If you have not seen his “I have a dream” speech, click the play button below and watch it now. It is one of the most powerful and inspiring speeches ever. It will be well worth the 17-minutes you spend watching it.
But even as you’re listening to the words, go beneath them. See if you can sense the energy, the passion, the conviction with which he holds his dream. Because, remember, everything is energy, and we attract our dreams through a vibrational process.
Listen, especially near the end of his speech, how his voice takes on a vibrato that seems to sing the truth of his dream. He is there, living his dream, even as he stands in a reality that is, seemingly, a long way away from the dream.
So on this day, when we celebrate the life of one of our world’s biggest dreamers, I ask you, “What is your dream?”
What is the Grandest Version of the Greatest Vision you’ve ever had for your life?
Now do not fall into the trap of comparing your dream to Martin Luther King’s. Not all of us are meant to carry such dreams, and the weight of responsibility that comes with them.
But neither is anyone meant to give up their dreams. And that is what far too many people have done. They have given up their dreams because others have told them, throughout their lives, that they can’t have what they want. They have been told to “play it safe.” They have been shot down when they tried to soar. And they have learned that there is no sense in dreaming.
But on this day, when we remember and honor the grand dream of a brilliant dreamer, take some time to remember your big dreams.
On this day, when we pay tribute to Martin Luther King, one of the most skillful Deliberate Creators in recent history, remember that you are the creator of your life. You are dreaming your life into existence right now.
Vincent Van Gogh said,
“I dream of painting then I paint my dream.”
Martin Luther King dreamed of freedom for all people and then he began painting that dream.
What are you going to dream? What does your dream look like? What does it feel like?
Only when you know your dream, can you then begin painting it.
So start dreaming! Dream big. Dream bold.
And then begin living into that dream. Because dreams do come true. But for that to happen, you must take the first step. You must begin painting your dream, living your dream.
Only you can make your dream come true!
So begin today.
And, in case you have not heard, President elect Obama made a call to service on this day. If you want to answer that call, if you want to have a task to go with your vision of a better life and better world, here are two websites with information:
Here in the US, the Thanksgiving holiday has come and gone. If you celebrated Thanksgiving, I hope your day was filled with gratitude, joy, love, and, oh yeah, lots of great food!
You could say that Thanksgiving is the holiday of Deliberate Creators. Gratitude is one of the most potent vibrations for attracting your desires. Unfortunately, for many people, Thanksgiving is the beginning and end of their connection with gratitude.
As the Deliberate Creator of your life you cannot leave your gratitude behind with the Thanksgiving holiday. In order to create the life you desire gratitude must be one of your dominant thoughts at all times.
The Native Americans, for whom the Thanksgiving holiday holds mixed messages, lived in a state of gratitude. For them, giving thanks was, and for many, still is, a way of life, a moment-by-moment attitude.
Just imagine, for a moment, that instead of needing a holiday to remind us to be grateful, that gratitude was our natural state. Imagine that with every breath we felt grateful for the air around us, with every step we gave thanks for the ground upon which we walked, with every bite of food we ate, we offered appreciation to the plants and animals who gave their lives so that we might continue to live and grow.
Just imagine how you would feel. Imagine how your life would be different.
Let Thanksgiving be a reminder a life of Deliberate Creation is meant to be lived in a state of gratitude. Gratitude is not a one-time event. It is a way of being.
The master of attraction lives in a state of appreciation at all times and for all things in her life. Yes, ALL things. The Buddha said:
Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn’t learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn’t learn a little, at least we didn’t get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn’t die; so, let us all be thankful.
And the master of attraction also holds in gratitude those things not yet in his life which he desires. The master of attraction says “thank you” for his desires rather than “please.”
Fill your desires with gratitude. Know that they are already created, even if you cannot yet see them in your life. Your gratitude will draw them to you as surely as a feeder in winter draws birds.
So don’t leave your gratitude behind. Practice the art of appreciation every day. Begin and end your day with gratitude. Share your gratitude with the people in your life. Stop throughout your day and offer gratitude for the breath you take.
Let your appreciation flow and watch your desires grow!
Last Thursday, I offered a gift to you: The free teleclass, 3 Simple Energy Tools to Help You Step out of the Fear and into the Fun. On the call, I shared three very simple, but powerful tools to help you stay out of the energy of fear that is swirling all around us now.
Over 80 people registered for the live call, and the recording has been downloaded many more times since Thursday. If you have not listened to it, you can download the MP3 recording here.
During the call, I mentioned the upcoming 6-week Energetics of Attraction Live Course. This 6-week teleseminar series will provide you with simple yet extremely powerful tools for navigating the turbulent waters we’re in right now.
This course is a totally revised version of the original Energetics of Attraction live course and the Digital Learning Course. The curriculum has been updated to reflect the chaos, confusion and fear that is swirling around us right now. The lessons and the tools have been modified to help you apply them in this environment.
And because I don’t want that fear to get in the way of you signing up for this course, I have lowered the tuition by $100! It’s my way to bite back at this economic meltdown!
And if you read this in time, by Tuesday, November 5th, you’ll have the opportunity to save even more. I’ve taken another $100 off the tuition through Tuesday. (It was meant to be a 24-hour Halloween special, but I forgot to send out the email on Friday. D’oh! My trick, your treat.)
The bottom line is that I don’t want money, or the fear surrounding money to be the reason you say no to this life changing opportunity.
And, as with all of my online events, the course comes with my no-questions-asked guarantee. If you don’t feel you’ve received incredible value from the course, just ask for a refund and you’ll get your money back with no questions asked.
My intention with this course is to arm you with a set of powerful energetic tools that have real world, practical, applications. After all, energy tools are great, but if they don’t help you thrive in the “real” world, they’re not very useful.
So over the next 6-weeks I will be sharing these tools with you in a way that will allow you to immediately put them into use in your “real” life. You will learn how to use these techniques to get out of the fear, confusion and doubt and stay out of it. And once you’re out of it, you can use these tools to dramatically accelerate the creation of a truly awesome life.
I sure hope to see you on the first call this Thursday.
You can get all the details about the course and register for the Energetics of Attraction Live Course here:
I’ll admit I’m a fan of fun old 80’s music. Hey, it’s my era! And leave it to Loggins and Messina to encapsulate the cause of all of the problems of an entire generation!
Think about it, if the parents of my generation had just lightened up a bit, danced more, and listened to some of that long-haired, hippy rock n’ roll music, we’d all be much better off right now. Right?
All right, I’ll admit that I sometimes toy with the possibility of blaming the state of my life on my parent’s inability to cut loose and enjoy themselves. There’s no question about it: learning that life is to be enjoyed is not all that easy when you’re surrounded by folks who just don’t know how to have any fun let alone dance or rock n’ roll.
However, as a Deliberate Creator, living at the leading edge of thought, I don’t have that luxury. And if you want to firmly place yourself out here on the leading edge of thought, neither do you.
Here’s the thing; It doesn’t matter how “TRUE” it is. Deliberate Creation is not about what is true, what appears to be true, or what has been true in the past.
Deliberate Creation is all about what you choose to be true in the present and the future. What truth do you want to create? That is the only question that really matters.
You can continue to blame your life on your parents’ inability to dance and rock n’ roll. If you do, you’ll continue to live the life story you’re in now. And if that works for you, great. Go for it!
But if you want to change your life story, you have to write it. And that means you have to let go of blame regardless of how “true” it might be.
So if you’re mama didn’t dance and you’re daddy didn’t rock n’ roll stop wasting your time and energy on what they missed out on and get out there and start doing some dancing and rockin’ and rollin’!
