Personal Growth Resource Roundup #15

Welcome to another installment of the Personal Growth Resource Roundup. As you may already know, in these roundups I bring you personal growth resources from unexpected and sometimes surprising sources. I believe that there are life lessons everywhere. So, while I do include great resources from more “traditional” personal growth sources, the focus is on getting us outside of that box. Here are this week’s resources!

Let’s begin with one last reminder about Earth Hour. It’s tonight! The movement has definitely picked up some steam since the first time I wrote about it and even since last week’s personal growth resource roundup. Apparently it’s grown so much that their site is being very slow! If you haven’t watched the video yet, and their site is slow or not responding, you can watch the Earth Hour Video here. And then tonight, in just over 12 hours, at 8:00pm, turn off your lights for 1-hour, Earth Hour! Let’s see the difference we can make when we all turn our lights off!

What will you do during that hour without lights? I’ll be putting Ella to bed. And once she’s asleep I’ll probably play the piano softly by candlelight. Hmm. Sounds like something I might start doing more often!

Leave a comment and let me know what you’re going to do.

Next up is a reminder that Part 1 of my free report – The Energetics of Attraction: Understanding and Applying the Harmonics of Human Awareness is available.

Part One, which is available now, begins with an exploration of why the Law of Attraction may not be “working” and then moves into the five levels of human perception, awareness and response.

Part Two, which will be available soon, will cover the following topics:

* Recognizing your primary perceptual level.
* The role of the subconscious in the Law of Attraction.
* Understanding the Harmonics of Human Awareness.
* Using the Harmonics of Human Awareness to empower your work with the Law of Attraction.

Just fill in your name and email below and you can download the free report now!

Now let’s move on to Problogger! And just what, you might say, does Darren Rowse and Problogger have to do with personal growth? Well, even as far back as February of 2007 I was wondering if Darren was going Personal Developmenty on us!

Personally, I think that one of the reasons why Problogger is so successful is because Darren has infused it with a positive energy that encompasses much more than blogging. And while he probably would not say this, I feel that the underlying message of Problogger is that if you want to be a better blogger, become a better person. Now, maybe I’m reading too much into what’s happening between the lines… or maybe not.

But either way, this guest post, by Easton Ellsworth, on The Greatest Blogging Skill, most certainly qualifies as a personal growth post, even though it uses blogging as a vehicle to express it.

And while we’re on the subject of blogging, let’s talk about SOBCon-08! Oh how I would love to be there! You can just tell, from the buzz, from the energy, and from the amazing people who go to SOBCon that it’s one of those business events that will inspire you to become a better blogger by becoming a better person. It’s not looking like I’m going to get there this year. But if you have that weekend open, and want to get some great information and connect with some amazing people, I definitely recommend it!

And speaking of the amazing people you’ll get to meet at SOBCon, Wendy Piersall is one of them. Currently, Wendy is moving through quite a process over at Emomsathome. She is rebranding her blog network. And having been privileged to be part of the process, I can assure you there is a LOT of personal growth happening over there. Don’t believe me? Check out this post on the Empty Blog Nest.

Let’s get at least one resource in the mix from a more personal developmenty blog! You think money can’t buy happiness? Check out this post from Rick Cockrum at Shards of Consciousness, How Money Can Buy You Happiness. You might be surprised.

And finally, don’t forget that Oprah and Eckhart Tolle’s Worldwide world-changing Webinar moves into week 5 on Monday evening. This week will focuon on Chapter 5 of Eckhart’s book, A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life’s Purpose.

If you haven’t already registered, head over to Oprah’s site now to sign up. It’s free and most definitely personal developmenty!

That’s it for this week’s personal growth resource roundup.

See you next time.

Personal Growth Resource Roundup #13

Well this lucky 13 edition of the Personal Growth Resource Roundup is chock full of goodness! Seems to me that the quality of personal growth related content on the web just keeps getting better and better. And to that I say, “Rock On!”

First up is the Law of Attraction carnival. If you haven’t heard, Dean Lacono of Law of Attraction for Beginners, and Ellie Walsh of Living the Law of Attraction have taken over the longest running Law of Attraction blog carnival. And so far, they’re doing a great job! The theme of this edition, number 29, is Relationships – How to use the Law of Attraction to create, maintain, improve relationships.

Then there’s Jonathan Field’s post Is Visionary Just Another Word for Masochistic? I don’t know about you, but sometimes being out here on the Leading Edge of Thought feels pretty crappy! But I wouldn’t give up my spot on the Leading Edge for anything. Does that make me a masochist? Maybe. Jonathan starts with this quote from this Seth Godin post, “Remarkable visions and genuine insight are always met with resistance.” If you feel that your Visions are being met with resistance, go check out this article.

Next up, Dawud Miracle takes an inspiring look at what we can learn from how Ben Franklin ran his businesses. There are number of excellent lessons to be learned from Ben, but I think this is my favorite: “Do not fear mistakes. You will know failure. Continue to reach out.”

Alex Shalman must have taken a look in my car when he wrote this extremely helpful post on How to Declutter Your Car! If your car looks like mine, go check it out.

And finally, don’t forget that Oprah and Eckhart Tolle’s Worldwide world-changing Webinar continues Monday evening. This week will focuon on Chapter 2 of Eckhart’s book, A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life’s Purpose.

They promise to have the technical issues worked out. So if you had problems watching last week’s webcast, hopefully this one will be better.

If you haven’t watched last week’s class, you can access the On Demand version Oprah’s New Earth Web Event here and download a video, MP3, watch a streaming version or grab a transcript of the show.

And after watching it, be sure to leave your comments and questions here.

If you haven’t already registered, head over to Oprah’s site now to sign up. It’s free.

That’s it for this week’s Personal Growth Resource Roundup.

Personal Growth Resource Roundup #4

Well here’s one of those things that will probably guarantee me a spot in the “dumbest blogging mistakes” hall of fame.

I have a second installation of WordPress in a subdirectory where I can play with plugins and other stuff before making changes on my public blog. Yesterday I wanted to uninstall the old version of WordPress so that I could install 2.3 which Cpanel doesn’t have yet.

Simple right?

Would have been, except for the fact that I clicked on the wrong button and uninstalled my REAL wordpress installations. D’Oh!

There wasn’t a whole lot I could do at that point other than cry and wait for my host to restore my site from their Sunday backup. Of course that meant that all the posts and comments from last week were lost.

Fortunately I was able to repost the entries (using the change timestamp feature). However the comments are pretty much gone for good. So if you left a fabulous comment here last week, my apologies that the world will no longer have access to it!

It also means that the draft I had going for today’s Personal Growth Resource Roundup got zapped as well. So all the great posts I had gathered are gone. Well, the posts aren’t gone, but I no longer have the links to them.

So this will be a bit of a short list today. But I hope to make up for it with the incredible quality of these Personal Growth Resources!

And the moral of the story… check twice before zapping a WordPress installation on your server.

Ok. On to the good stuff!

If you’re a business person and you don’t know Rich Schefren is you need to find out right now! And this post, How to Multitask Like An Octopus on Crack, is a great place to start, especially if you have ADD or ADD tendencies.

Have you heard of a Distinctionary? I hadn’t either, until this week. I found this over at Coachville (an amazing personal growth resource!) where they describe the Distinctionary this way: This book is an adventure. Its purpose is to help you see and experience subtleties of language — we call these distinctions. Please use it to increase your own awareness and the awareness of your friends and clients.

And my friend Lyman has a wonderful post over at Creating A Better Life. If you’ve ever had a “down” period, whether or not it was officially “depression” the advice to Keep Moving is right on.

And for one of the most impressive examples of community building and support I’ve yet seen check out the virtual birthday party that happened for the Successful and Outstanding Bloggers. A whopping 679 comments (as of this writing) were generated by the party goers. If you want to learn about networking and relationship building, start hanging out with Liz!

Carnival Roundup:

Here are the carnivals that have featured an article from Evolving Times this week.

The Secret to Getting What You Desire Carnival at The Secret to Life featured the guest post by Kim Castle, The 3 Most Powerful Things You Can Do To Make Customers Choose You.

Over at The Next 45 Years, the Personal Development and Happiness Carnival featured two entries from Evolving Tmes. (My mistake: I usually submit just one entry per carnival). The two entries were, How to Be a Positive Force in the Blogosphere and Beyond, and Are You A Cultural Creative? Thanks Alex for including them both.

Well that’s it for this week. Come back next Saturday for the regular, plump version of the Personal Growth Resource Roundup.

Personal Growth Resource Roundup #2

It’s time for another Saturday roundup of Personal Growth Resources. My intention with these roundups is to turn you on to some of the powerful personal growth resources available on the web.

I’ll be including stuff from the some of the amazing personal growth bloggers out there. But what makes this roundup series a bit unique – I hope – is that I’ll also be reaching out beyond the typical personal growth sites to find personal growth resources in other areas.

Leave your comments below to let me know if you’re getting benefit from these resources. After all, they’re here for you!

Let’s begin with some inspiration from the Free Hugs Campaign Website. I wrote an entry about the Free Hugs Video just about a year ago. Now they have their very own website. If you want to add a dose of hope to your day, go check out their site.

Next up are some Blogging Lessons from Children over at the Brown Thoughts blog. I learn lessons in blogging and beyond from my daughter on a daily basis. So I can totally relate to this post. I love the last lesson – Every Day is an Adventure. Amen to that!

At Casual Keystrokes, Char reminds us to Look at Your Site Through a Different Set of Eyes. We all need a new, different perspective on our websites from time to time. And this advice applies beyond the world of the web. Having someone take a peek at some aspect of your life can provide just the kind of perspective you need to make a simple change that can make a big difference.

Outfit Inspirations has a wonderful post on the Five Rules Girls Should Learn In School. I would argue that most of these are rules that we all could benefit from. Here’s one of them – Never Make Fun Of Someone’s Enthusiasm. I’ve broken that rule on more than one occasion and the results have never been positive.

Then there’s Aaron Potts, at Today Is That Day, who has this truly timely – for me at least – post, Stop Waffling and Start Living! If you have trouble deciding what to do, or flip back and forth between your choices, go read this post right now.

Over at Copyblogger, Ryan Imel has a very interesting guest post, Are You Blogging With Confident Feet? Now hold on because this article has implications and applications far beyond blogging. Go read the information about how confident speakers pay attention to their stance and movement and see if you can translate that awareness into your life.

And here’s another link that may, again, seem a bit off topic for a personal growth resource roundup. But Robert Middleton’s post on The Christmas Tree Marketing Plan outlines a simple metaphor and plan for getting things done. The applications of the Christmas Tree Plan are not limited to marketing. Check it out.

That’s it for this week’s roundup. Tune back in next Saturday for another roundup of personal growth resources from around the web.

The Official Personal Growth Resource Roundup #1

In case you hadn’t noticed, there is an incredible abundance of amazing personal growth material available on the web. And since I certainly don’t claim to have all the answers – in fact I find many of my own answers online – I’m going to do my best to post a (mostly) regular list of outstanding Personal Growth resources that I have found around the blogosphere and beyond.

And this is the first “official” roundup of Personal Growth Resources.

Let’s begin this week’s list with the Blog Carnivals that have featured an entry from Evolving Times.

The Abundance Thinking Carnival at Abundance Highway included my interview with Mark Joyner on the Law of Attraction.

The 14th Carnival of Creative Growth posted at Energies of Creation and the Made to Be Great Personal Development Carnival at Made to Be Great, both included my article, 51 Ways to Expand Your Comfort Zone.

Next, I feel extremely honored to have been added to the SOB list (Simply Outstanding Bloggers) by the totally awesome Liz Strauss. If you haven’t “met” Liz yet, you need to get over there right now!

Shama Hyder, who seems to have taken a bit of a sabbatacal from the blogosphere, has reemerged with a wonderful business blog at After the Launch.

And if you haven’t been watching the amazing changes happening over at Wendy Piersall’s blogging empire 😉 you definitely need to check it out! Dad Balance – the new emoms channel for the other half of the traditional parenting pair has launched and already has a ton of great articles aimed at helping dads find a positive work/life balance. Check out this recent guest post from Chris Garret on The Pros and Cons of Being a Work at Home Dad.

Then there are the memes that I have been tagged with and have not yet responded to. Many of these are truly valuable topics, and my delay in responding in no way reflects the value they bring to the blogosphere. If you’re the original memester, know that I’ve got you on my list and will do my best to respond. But I make no guarantees. 😉

I’ve still got Gleb’s question, What is Personal Development on my mind.

Aaron and Alex have both tagged me with the What Gives You Courage meme started by Lorraine Cohen at Powerfull Living.

Lola Fayemi started an interesting meme and tagged me with The Good Side of the Limited Mind.

Internet Marketing Mind and Dana Walert tagged me with a call to promote this fundraising event for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

If you haven’t been tagged yet, and would like to participate in any of these worthy memes, consider yourselves tagged!

And speaking of Memes, I’ll be posting the roundup from the What Would You Do with an Extra 36 Hours Meme at the end of next week. So if you’d like to participate and be included in the roundup, get your post up soon.

That’s it for this week. Enjoy these great resources and watch for more next week.

Some Saturday Personal Growth Link Love

It’s hard to believe that my daughter is turning 4 tomorrow. I’m really starting to understand what people mean when they say the time just flies by. [Key the song Sunrise Sunset from Fiddler on the Roof in the background].

So in addition to tomorrow mornings drop in Law of Attraction Group here in Sebastopol, this weekend is going to be filled with a big party and visits from various out of town relatives. So not much writing will be happening here at Evolving Times. So to keep you occupied, here are links to a few great personal growth posts.

Gleb Reys has posted part 1 in the What Is Personal Development Group Writing Project. I’ve promised Gleb that I’ll have an entry for him soon. And I can see that he is not going to let me slide on this one! ;0

Karen Lynch, posted the 7th edition of her Live The Power Unlimited Carnival. In it, she included my entry, Dragonfly Asks If Illusions Are Holding You Back. There are some great entries in the carnival so check it out!

The Personal Development Partners forum that Aaron Potts recently relaunched is going strong. I must sheepishly admit that, while I have been following some of the truly insightful threads over there, I have not yet taken the time to join in the conversation. That’s going to change. And if you haven’t checked it out, now is the time. Aaron also has a contest happening and there are still 2-weeks left in the iPod giveaway!

Over at the Law of Attraction Playground, Jeannette Maw has a wonderful entry on the relationship between Integrity and the Law of Attraction. Well worth a read.

Well that should keep you going for a couple of days! And if not I’m sure you can find some more great stuff out there.

Don’t forget to get your Law of Attraction Carnival entries in by Monday. Barb Lattin at Feels Like Magic, who is hosting the next edition has chosen a great topic – The Law of Attraction in Images. Because this is quite a unique, and somewhat challenging topic, there have been very few on-topic entries thus far. So if you submit a post to the carnival by Monday that expresses the Law of Attraction in an image(s) there’s a good chance that you’ll be included in the Featured Entries section.

Have an awesome weekend.
